Inviting applications for the position of Lecturer in Law in its Legal Analysis, Writing, and Research (LAWR) Program in the School of Law at the University at Buffalo.

The LAWR Program provides intensive skills training to first-, second-, and third-year law students with a strong emphasis on small-group and individual learning. This position involves a full-time 12-month University appointment for an initial period of two years, beginning in the summer of 2021, with an assumption that at least one subsequent three-year appointment will follow. The possibility of renewing these appointments after the initial five-year period is also assumed. One position will be filled at a salary of $60,000 – $65,000 per year.

The Lecturer will be expected to teach one section of LAWR each semester in conjunction with the Law School’s library and academic staff. Lecturers will be expected to prepare their own lesson plans and research and writing projects, and will collaborate with the other LAWR Faculty.

The LAWR Program includes two required courses that are offered exclusively to first-year students and a third required course that is open only to second- and third-year students. Lecturers will teach either the first-year or upper-level LAWR courses during the academic year. The person hired for this position may also be called upon to assist with the Law School’s Academic Success program. Lecturers are also expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the school, will have the opportunity to serve on faculty committees and vote in faculty meetings, and will be encouraged to pursue broader teaching and scholarly activities.
