The Faculty of Law (CUHK LAW) is one of the most dynamic and successful law schools in Asia. Since admitting its first cohort of students in 2006, CUHK LAW has grown significantly in scale and reputation. In 2023-24, over 1,400 students are enrolled our programmes (LLB, LLM, JD, PCLL and MPhil /PhD). We are proud of our outstanding achievements in teaching and research. The 2020 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) conducted by the Hong Kong University Grants Committee recognized CUHK LAW’s research strength by rating 83% of its research activities as “world leading” (4*) or “internationally excellent” (3*). CUHK LAW has a strong international outlook with nearly twenty jurisdictions (by origin or training) represented by its academic staff. In 2018 CUHK LAW was the most international law school globally according to the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking exercise. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W N Cheung Start-up Grant in Law and Tech Research at CUHK LAW

Successful applicants with a proven track record of outstanding research/great prospect of conducting research in the area of Law & Technology will be considered for the “Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W N Cheung Start-up Grant in Law and Tech Research at CUHK LAW”. The Start-Up Grant carries the award of HK$500,000 (for Professors) or HK$250,000 (for Assistant and Associate Professors) to support research activities in the area of Law & Technology. Appointees are expected to contribute to research, teaching and service. Applicants for appointment as Professor must have a demonstrated record of leadership in all three domains. Applicants for appointment as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor should be able to show their potential for leadership in all three domains. We encourage applications from candidates whose background and experience will enhance the diversity of our faculty.

Appointment(s) will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially, which, subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.
